North Gate by Jetwing was newly opened in April 2018 in the center of the Northernmost City Jaffna and can be recommended to those who prefer to enjoy both of Jaffna sightseeing and the pool.
Jaffna used to be the fierce battlefield during civil war and now is safe and quite reconstructing though still some ruins can be seen in the city. The savanna climate provides different scenery from South West Resort and the Tamil culture town is strongly influenced by Hindu. You will find other face of Sri Lanka here.
Jetwing group produced lots of Resorts but this North Gate by Jetwing exterior is more simple and urban style rather than resort one and the interior is modern-pop.

The resort style hotels like South-West area resort which are with beach and pool cannot be found in Jaffna today so this hotel pool was a real delight. Even SriLankan people said that North is too hot weather so sightseeing in scorching sun exhausts us more than expected. A swim in sunset is oasis in savanna.
Jaffna is located in the Northernmost so before coming here travelers would have stayed in other sightseeing places for days and it would be the time to want to change tastes from curry. However basically restaurants are curry restrants in this city so this hotel's first floor dining is good-to-know place.
This dining restaurant serves western style dishes and Jaffna dishes. Salad was like divine grace because it is quite tough to find fresh vegetables around here. The menu has appetizer, soup, main and dessert. Also Jaffna curry. The sophisticated taste is worth to try.
Breakfast was served in this restaurant and the pre-fixed breakfast tested good.
And of course the rest room was modern and clean. Jetwing standard is quite grateful in such an occasion.
This hotel was quite new so one pity thing was they were still under process of obtaining the liquor license (They also accepted BYOD except for POYA day so if you need, better to bring) and hope we can have beer sooner here.

Jaffna is under development right now and there are more guest houses than foreign type hotels so
North Gate by Jetwing increased more options for us. If you are looking for a modern hotel with pool for sightseeing, this is perfect match for you.
And Jaffna rail station is just in front of this hotel so if you are train-riding-lover, this is very convenient location for you.
